How to Use a Load Assist

Load assists are essentially band extensions to assist in loading longer spearguns or roller spearguns. They are also extremely helpful to divers that have past injuries in their shoulders. This can also be the difference for some women and children in being able to load longer spearguns. It also allows people to keep their bands at the optimal length to ensure the speargun fires at its peak performance.

Construction

The Neptonics Load Assist is built using 5/8” spearfishing band material with a loading hook and a four inch tuna clip on a European wishbone. The tuna clip allows for easy storage to a belt point clip on a freediving weight belt.

How to Actually Use It

The basic process of using the load assist is to hook the metal hook to the wishbone on your speargun. From there, you should pull the load assist back as if it is a normal band and notch the euro wishbone into the notch or shark-fin tabs on your spear. From there, you can adjust your speargun and finish loading your speargun’s bands completely. You then can repeat the process for the remaining bands.

Other Information

You can watch the video on our Youtube channel to see a visual example of how to use the assist in the water.

It can definitely be a valuable piece of gear to keep in the bag, especially if you have roller spearguns. Having the right gear can mean the difference between shooting the fish of a lifetime or looking frustrated at a partially loaded speargun as that fish swims away.
